STATE OF THE SCHOOL
POSTER DESIGN (THEME: RESEARCH)
Every year, the Advanced Graphic Design students create a poster for the university that represents that year’s theme. This year's theme focuses on celebrating research.
The main goal of this project is to create a poster that represents “research” that is visually engaging but also effective. With a theme that is so broad and open to interpretation, it is easy for the idea to get lost. Therefore, the goal is to have a solid idea to successfully deliver the message with strong graphic elements and a bold copy that really ties everything together.
For my poster, I wanted to focus my poster on the foundation of what research is and tie that back to Chapman. Despite our technological advancements, the core foundation of research is in the text and books. Therefore, to symbolize this, I decided it would be ideal to incorporate the Leatherby Library, Chapman’s institute of research and knowledge. I decided to represent this by making a book in the shape of the Leatherby Library.
